Friday Reads: The Perfume Garden

The Perfume Garden by Kate Lord Brown

The book I'm reading this week is The Perfume Garden, the debut novel by English author Kate Lord Brown. The novel tells the story of a London perfumer and the villa in Valencia, Spain that was bequeathed to her by her mother. A second story line delves into her grandmother's time in Valencia during the Spanish civil war.

Earlier this year I enjoyed another book by the author, The House of Dreams, which takes place in the south of France during World War II.

I haven't been to Spain yet but I've started doing some research. In the meantime, I look forward to experiencing the beauty of Valencia through the pages of The Perfume Garden.

Can you recommend a novel you've read that is set in Spain?
