Italian for Beginners by Kristin Harmel |
This week I'm jetting off to Rome with Italian for Beginners by American author Kristin Harmel. This is one of her earlier novels, a romantic comedy published in 2009. I've got two more of her books on my shelf including her most recent, The Room on Rue Amelie, which is historical fiction set during World War II.
A note from the author reminiscing about her culinary adventures in Italy, along with recipes included at the back of the book suggest some delicious food in the story. I'm reminded of the wonderful tasting menu of authentic Roman cuisine I enjoyed, just a stone's throw from Bernini's Fountain of the Four Rivers, on Piazza Navona. I wonder if Cat, the heroine of the novel, will also pay a visit to this historic square.
