Friday Reads: Last Christmas in Paris

Last Christmas in Paris by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb

I enjoyed last week's holiday-themed novel so much that, along with a full slate of Christmas movies, I plan to read several more such books before the big day arrives a month from now.  Last Christmas in Paris by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb gives me the added bonus of a wartime storyline.

As England enters the First World War, Evie makes plans with her brother Will and his best friend Tom to celebrate Christmas – and an anticipated early end to the war – in the romantic city of Paris. In letters exchanged between home and the front lines in France, the friends share their dreams of seeing the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the winding streets of Montmartre.

Place du Tertre

But Evie, Will and Tom are headed for difficult times as the conflict in Europe will not end quickly. Set amidst the horrors of 'the war to end all wars', Last Christmas in Paris promises to be a bittersweet holiday read.

I have also read (and can highly recommend) these other historical fiction novels by the authors:

The Girl from the Savoy by Hazel Gaynor
The Girl Who Came Home by Hazel Gaynor
Rodin's Lover by Heather Webb

The Girl Who Came Home by Hazel Gaynor

To my delight, Gaynor and Webb are teaming up again for another new novel set to release in Summer 2019. Meet Me in Monaco is set against the backdrop of Grace Kelly's wedding to Prince Rainier of Monaco and it's already on my Want to Read list.

Have you ever celebrated the holiday season away from home?
