Half of November has already slipped by and the holiday season is nearly upon us. So far my preparations have included the purchase of three Christmas gifts, two cartons of egg nog and a new book by Canadian author Patricia Sands. The First Noël at the Villa des Violettes brings back the heartwarming characters from her bestselling Love in Provence series as they too prepare for Christmas in the South of France.

Much of the story in the Love in Provence series takes place in the Cote d'Azur town of Antibes. Two years ago I was fortunate to join Patricia on her tour of Provence and the French Riviera, including visits to some of the places featured in her novels.

I've only just begun reading her new book but it already has me reminiscing about the city's charming Old Town squares, bustling Provencal market, exquisite French pastries and cute little Citröen cars.

The First Noël at the Villa des Violettes was released this week as an ebook and print copies will be available by December 1st. It's the first of three planned novellas in the Villa des Violettes series, with the second book expected in May 2019.
Patricia's previous novel Drawing Lessons is based on a different cast of characters and takes place in the town of Arles. Like the books in the Love in Provence series, it too features beautiful descriptions of southern France.
