Paris: Atelier des Lumières

I'm a big fan of Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. Mere days before my departure to France, I heard about a special exhibition featuring his work and immediately sought tickets for Van Gogh, Starry Night at the Atelier des Lumières in Paris.

Following the success of the Carrières de Lumières art centre near Les Baux-de-Provence, the Atelier des Lumières opened on the site of an old foundry in Paris in 2018. The exhibitions at these two unique Culturespaces venues are visual and musical productions featuring a different celebrated artist each year. In 2019, the artist is Vincent van Gogh.

During the half hour presentation, I was immersed in the pulsing colourful world seen through Van Gogh's eyes as his paintings were projected on all the surfaces of the darkened foundry. An amazing way to experience art!

If you're a fan of Van Gogh and plan to be in Paris this year, go see Van Gogh, Starry Night.  If you won't be in Paris, you can still enjoy the fifty major works featured in the exhibition (along with detailed descriptions) in an app for Smartphones and tablets. A link to the app is on the Atelier des Lumières website.

The Van Gogh exhibition is also being shown at the Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux-de-Provence until January 5th.
