Europe by Colour: A Few More

At the completion of a series of posts which featured my favourite travel photos by colour, I decided to include a few more: pink, purple, orange and black.

The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on Cap Ferrat in the south of France is a marshmallow pink confection. The property features nine different theme gardens. The largest is the French Garden, seen here in front of the villa, and it offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.

The field of lavender behind the St. Paul de Mausole Monastery in St. Remy de Provence is purple at its most fragrant. The monastery was a sanctuary for Vincent Van Gogh for a year of his life and the troubled artist completed over a hundred paintings during his stay.

This unforgettable sunset over the Rhone River in the Camargue capped off a wonderful river cruise through Burgundy and Provence with its fiery orange glow.

Remnants of the medieval past can still be seen in the French hilltop town of Eze Village today, like this piece of black iron work attached to a stone wall.
