Friday Reads: Marrying Mr. Valentine

Marrying Mr. Valentine by Laura Barnard

In anticipation of Valentine's Day next week I'm reading Marrying Mr. Valentine, a romantic comedy by British author Laura Barnard. This is Book 2 in the One Month Till I Do series.

Nadine Roberts, wedding planner at The Duck and Goose, receives a last minute cancellation and turns to the next couple on her two year waiting list: Clara Blumenkrantz and Hartley Valentine. Nadine must then pull out all the stops to create the extravagant wedding envisioned by the difficult bride as she fights her inappropriate attraction to the sexy groom.

On my last visit to England I came across several brides and they each seemed to be enjoying their big day. I spotted the first happy couple through a bus window in London – the bride and groom dodged traffic to pose for photos in the middle of Westminster Bridge.

Bridges appear to be popular backdrops for wedding photos in London. Another couple posed outside the Tate Modern on the access ramp to bustling Millennium Bridge. There were lots of pedestrians milling about but at least these newlyweds didn't have to worry about vehicular traffic.

Outside of London in the city of Salisbury I caught a bride and her attendants as they rushed to the venue for her afternoon wedding ceremony. They entered the Cathedral Close through medieval St. Ann's Gate. There was no time to stop and pose for photos yet!
