Friday Reads: The Twelve Dates of Christmas

The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Lisa Dickenson

Most of the Christmas-themed books I've come across are set in England and this week's novel takes place in the city of London. The Twelve Dates of Christmas is a romantic comedy by British author Lisa Dickenson.

Each chapter relates the story of one of Claudia's twelve dates. The first results in the breakup with her boyfriend of five years, Seth. Subsequent dates take place at some well-known London locations such as the South Bank, The Shard and St. Paul's Cathedral.

Date Five: The South Bank

Date Six: The Shard, London Bridge Quarter

Date Eight: St. Paul's Cathedral, City of London

Peeking ahead to the end of the book I found some extra features: Twelve Tips to Dating in London (Tip #6: pick somewhere near a Tube line) and Twelve Mini Breaks of Christmas. (The author's recommended destination "for the falling in lovers" is Devon and the Two Bridges Hotel in Dartmoor National Park.)

Wild Dartmoor Ponies

I'm really enjoying Claudia's dating adventures in London and eager to read more books by Dickenson, like You Had Me at Merlot (set in Tuscany) and Catch Me if You Cannes (set in the south of France).
