Friday Reads: While We Were Watching Downton Abbey

While We Were Watching Downton Abbey by Wendy Wax

Many TV programs aired their season premieres this week, reminding me that there wouldn't be any new episodes of Downton Abbey among them. It seems like the perfect time to read While We Were Watching Downton Abbey by American author Wendy Wax.

I'm a big fan of the British series and a couple of years ago I took a tour of three key Downton locations: Highclere Castle, Cogges Manor Farm and Bampton Village (the real Downton Abbey, Yew Tree Farm and Downton Village).

Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey)

Kitchen of Cogges Manor Farm (Yew Tree Farm)

St. Mary's Church (St. Michael & All Angels)
Bampton Village (Downton Village)

Last week came the news that fans have been waiting for: a September 2019 release date for a Downton Abbey movie! There's also an opportunity for some of us to view costumes and sets from the original series at Downton Abbey: The Exhibition, which recently closed in New York. The next showing opens November 10th in West Palm Beach, Florida.

I must be content to wait for the movie, and hopefully a Canadian visit by the exhibition. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to reading While We Were Watching Downton Abbey.
